The three runaways travelled on and met a new friend.
They were excited to see a distant light from the trees.
There was a terrific noise!
The four friends met with a surprise...
...and formed a plan.
For a children's book based on a given text developed from the folk tale 'The Musicians of Bremen'. Definitely improvements to be made (last page, I'm looking at you) but generally I'm pretty pleased with this project. I will post versions with the text actually on the page some time. Giraffe is sleepy.

Testing some front covers for the short story 'Harrison Bergeron' by Kurt Vonnegut (read it here - it's excellent). The original image is a stencil screen print and has been duplicated on Photoshop using layer modes to get the colour changes. My favourite was the first but now I'm not so sure. The text is likely to change to something more exciting, possibly hand-rendered, but that'll come later. I'd love to hear your opinions on these, suggestions are always welcome!

Some mono-print illustrations for the French folk tale, 'The Strange Feathery Beast'. This has been a really fun project to work on and the method of mono-printing is liberating! You only get one shot with each print and you have to work quickly so the ink doesn't dry out before you actually print it. I never work like this. But now, I love the idea of producing one-offs, especially like this, because there's that little moment of excitement as you turn the paper over and see how it looks. I'm hoping to practice printing like this with some different colours because I'm curious to see whether it would be similar to painting in the way colours can be mixed. Also, it's really good fun to do! Anyway, there's one last illustration to come, it's more complex in that it's made of different prints layered together on Photoshop, so I'll be posting that soon. My favourites are the first one and the feathery beast. Enjoy!
